Here are some destination wedding tips to help you along the way:

  •  Make sure you can hire an outside photographer to cover your wedding! Some venues do not allow outsiders, or they will charge you a huge fee. Those that have in house photographers that don’t allow outsiders normally charge you a set price and then another price later for prints, be careful!

  • Some places require a permit; some places can charge the photographer £300 or more for that permit and take 6 months, please check.

  • Research your venue and the area, if you’re getting married on the beach; make sure the beach isn’t going to be busy that time of day.

  • Check the weather for that time of year in your destination, a shower is one thing, a typhoon in the wet season is another
In the warmer climates of Europe late afternoon is ideal for getting married, slightly cooler, better light for the photographer.

  •  For your post wedding portraits make sure photography is allowed at the location you’ve chosen

Where ever you choose for your dream wedding destination, remember you don’t have to have the supplied venue photographer.

ONE WAY TO AVOID BUREAUCRACY

A way to avoid doing pre-wedding bureaucracy in a foreign currency and/or language is to file the marriage license, sign papers and get married back home, then have the “real” or symbolic wedding in the country you want — this method provides certain benefits in that it does not involve the language, laws, translations or spending up to 2 months in the country you are visiting to get married, while giving you the freedom and flexibility to plan your itinerary and visit without the restrictions of a foreign country.
